Wind howled through the peaks and valleys of Vash's beloved Alps. Even after donning his heaviest coat, the chill penetrated into his bones. This was another winter night, another routine patrol, but the cold was always unforgiving. Shaking his head to jostle the snow from his cap and brushing the frost off his rifle, Vash looked down at the settlement below. Crackling fires and warm goat's milk immediately came to mind. Tonight, he would indulge and treat himself and his dear sister to some chocolate.
"My excuse'll be the new moon. In the darkness of this beginning, we can only look forward to light."
He chuckled a bit at his terribly shallow line.
However, the night was eerily black, that much was very true.
Just as Vash turned to head back, he noticed that the settlement was suddenly gone. All the lights had been extinguished.
As quickly as he could, he sprinted down the slope. The Swiss are notoriously coordinated in crisis management. This kind of mass blackout could only mean one thing,
"Invasion," said Vash as he clutched his lantern and sped back.
Just as he was about to reach his halfway marker, a signpost, he saw mysterious markings on the sign pointing to town. Claw marks.
"What manner of animal could the guard not handle?"
Suddenly from a nearby pine erupted a blood-curdling screech and with a burst of snow flew out some manner of man-like abomination.
Immediately Vash dropped his lantern to shoulder his rifle but the monster batted his only shot away with inhuman strength, the report rang out in the snowy clearing. His rifle flew through the air as he was taken aback by the force of the blow. For a moment he was able to focus on the horror before him, some ghoul of rotting frostbitten flesh, gaping wounds and gashes covering its decaying body. The smell made him want to vomit.
The abomination roared with beastly vigor as it swung wildly with its bony hands, clawing, flailing. With a single swing it fell a pine at least a foot thick. Vash, now on the ground, hurriedly scrambled to his feet and drew his sidearm. The stench made it difficult to aim, he felt like retching just looking at the thing. The ghastly beast charged at him again, he reacted with two squeezes of the trigger.
Both shots hit the ghoul in the chest but it was unfazed, he fired off the rest of the magazine. The shots hit and missed with varying degrees of damage ranging from body shots that yielded no effect to blasting off limbs, the last few blowing off a quarter of its skull and its lower jaw. The momentum carried it straight into the signpost, knocking it over, but once it went down it did not stir.
Vash, after recovering his rifle and reloading his pistol, inspected the monstrosity. He couldn't believe his eyes, it was a corpse. Albeit severely decayed, it was a human's corpse.
Casting further curiosity to the wind he abruptly picked up his lantern and made his way to the settlement.

[Few notes: These are not infected, but risen dead. So if you do get injured, you simply have some risk of infection. So this RP asks, 'How would your country react to a zombie outbreak?' Hope this turns out well Very Happy]
