It was an off day.

Milailo had gone through the entire day... not really all there. Sure, the fires were burning bright and wide today-- it was summer, after all-- but, that was no excuse to be so out of it...

Maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with the news... She'd picked up a copy of the New York Times down at the library... and had seen someone she liked very much on its front cover, just one of many people walking the streets.

How strange. She'd never felt so subtly numb before... Of course, she'd never felt so alone, either. Presently it was four in the morning her time-- so, why was Milailo still awake? She was... half-hoping that someone on the other side of the country would answer her email... She'd sent New York a small request for advice on managing the immigration paperwork-- harmless, meaningful, and actually needed. But still, contact.

Milailo was vaguely ashamed of herself. All her advice, to go up and tell the person you like how you feel, and she had trapped herself in that same old dance of subtlety that she simply hated.

...How utterly foolish.

It left her feeling empty, and alone, at a time of day when her brother wasn't awake to knock some sense into her. Instead, she consigned herself to sit in the windowsill of her bay window with her laptop and a can of Diet Coke, staring at the stars like they would be able to answer her. She hummed, trying to dispel her own loneliness, eventually singing herself a soft song... telling herself that she wasn't alone. The stars, they watched her. They were her friends, even if no one ever answered her cries for friendship and love.

[I keep putting songs in my rps... Curse you Lafayette, you've given me the bug! XD Song is here, if you wanna hear it; I'm putting the movie clip in, hoping that people will wanna watch it if you haven't. Razz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ioX6YfGByI&feature=fvw ]

Ethan was working through some crap emails, shit he really didn't need these days, when he noticed one of the state's sending addresses...

He didn't pay much mind at first, and stored it away for later.

Absorbed in his work, New York finished his immediate tasks, before finally opening that email, an our and a half after he first recieved it.

... He replied to Milailo, asking exactly what she needed help with, and why the she was sending him an email so late. (He's not stupid, he knows it's early morning over there).
...
He gave her some basic pointers, and a few steps to help with managing all of the work. It was a good thing she knew all of those languages.

After sending the reply, Ethan walked away from his laptop to go take a quick smoke. His head was trapped in a workaholic's mentality, he couldn't get his mind off of current issues.
